“America’s Best Customer Service 2026” recognizes the service providers, in-store and online retailers in the United States that provide the best customer service and is based on a range of relevant metrics from the perspective of customers. The study combines a large-scale confidential online survey conducted among U.S. customers with online reviews and an assessment of publicly available data.
Overall, more than 21,000 service providers, in-store and online retailers operating in the United States were considered in an initial review. Of these, more than 7,100 companies were selected for an in-depth evaluation in a nationwide survey.
The nationwide survey interviewed more than 32,000 U.S. consumers through multiple online access panels between September 2025 and October 2025. They evaluated their experiences with service providers as well as in-store and online retailers they made purchases from or contacted in the past three years. Wherever possible, online reviews were also collected to capture broader customer sentiment.
In addition, over 1.1 million company reviews by more than 67,000 customers from previous Customer Service Studies in2024 and 2023 were considered to measure a company’s commitment to consistent customer service excellence.
Companies involved in consumer data protection incidents or publicly reported employment-related allegations within the past two years were excluded from the final rankings using the Critical Mention media monitoring platform from Onclusive.
To ensure accuracy, a validation process was added as an extra layer of scrutiny. The Plant-A Research team, in collaboration with USA TODAY’s editorial team, thoroughly reviewed all results for credibility. Adjustments were only made where discrepancies arose between expert evaluations and rankings, and only if the rationale could be verified.
Utilizing the proprietary scoring model, an overall score was calculated for each company, considering all relevant weights on target groups, questionnaire items, categories, and desk research elements. The best companies in each segment were recognized as “America’s Best Customer Service 2026”.

The rankings are generated from data sources deemed reliable and are formed based on a methodological analysis of such data spanning the last 12 months. They are inherently a reflection of historical data and may not include subsequent developments, unforeseen events, or additional data not covered during the research period. Historical performance is not an indication of future performance.
