USA Today’s America’s Best Customer Service in Financial Services 2026

USA TODAY's America’s Best Customer Service in Financial Services 2026 Methodology Overview

USA TODAY’s America’s Best Customer Service in Financial Services 2026 recognizes the top companies in the financial services sector that provide the best customer service. The study combines a large-scale nationwide survey with extensive desk research that evaluates the performance of financial service providers from the perspective of U.S. customers.

An initial list of more than 13,000 financial service providers was sourced from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and the ‘Finance’ section of Google Play and Apple App stores. Of these, more than 2,500 financial service providers were selected for an in-depth evaluation in a nationwide survey.

The nationwide survey interviewed more than 31,000 customers through multiple online access panels between Sep. 2025 – Oct. 2025. They evaluated their experiences with financial services companies across seven dimensions of customer satisfaction, which includes professional competence, solution orientation, and transparency and reliability. In addition, over 75,000 company reviews by more than 25,000 customers from previous studies in 2024 and 2023 were considered to measure a company’s commitment to consistent customer service excellence.

An overall score was calculated for each company using a proprietary scoring model that considered all relevant weights on target groups, questionnaire items, categories, and desk research elements. The 500 best-performing companies were recognized as USA TODAY’s America’s Best Customer Service in Financial Services 2026.

The exclusion of a company from this ranking is not a reflection of its performance and is not disputed.

America's Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions 2025

For the second time, Plant-A Insights Group and Newsweek collaborated to identify America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions 2025. This study examined all regional banks and credit unions across the U.S. (about 9,170 institutions). We selected Banks and Credit Unions based on indicators of financial health, operational performance, and metrics pointing toward long-term stability. Only institutions with positive profitability, creditworthiness, healthy lending capacity and institutions operating in fewer than 30 states were included in this analysis. The analysis was supported by an extensive large-scale independent customer survey of over 71,000 U.S. residents. This survey aimed to capture their experiences across 12 categories using 52 items. Over 845,000 reviews of regional banks and credit unions were collected, spanning all states.
