America’s Best-In-State Moving Companies 2026 Methodology Overview

America’s Best-In-State Moving Companies 2026, a collaboration between USA TODAY and Plant-A Insights Group, highlights the top moving companies in each U.S. state known for exceptional customer service and reliability.

The ranking is based on a nationwide survey of over 17,000 customers and an analysis of more than 2 million online reviews.

To qualify, companies needed verified U.S. operations and at least 100 customer reviews. Only states with 30 or more evaluated companies were included. From over 36,000 moving companies, more than 3,700 met the criteria, verified using FMCSA and DOT data.

Customers rated their experiences on likelihood to recommend and six satisfaction drivers such as Care of Belongings, Punctuality, and Price Transparency, while a proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) analyzed five years of online reviews for sentiment on Professionalism, Communication, and Reliability.

A proprietary scoring model combined survey and sentiment insights to determine the top-rated movers in each state, recognized as America’s Best-In-State Moving Companies 2026.

To ensure integrity, Onclusive’s Critical Mention platform screened companies for adverse media coverage- including financial, legal, safety, and ethical issues- between October 2023 and October 2025, with any such companies excluded from the final list.
