America’s Greatest Workplaces 2025 (Industry and By State) Overview

America’s Greatest Workplaces 2025 (Industry and By State) study is a collection of two projects that recognizes the greatest workplaces in the United States in 1) 5 key industries and 2) in 50 U.S. states, by their performance on a range of relevant metrics from the perspective of U.S. employees.

The five industries that were considered are : Manufacturing, Technology, Professional Services, Financial Services and Health Care.

The states that were considered are : Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming (also includes District of Columbia).

The study evaluated publicly available data, conducted interviews with HR professionals, and gathered insights through large-scale, confidential online surveys of employees at U.S. companies.

As part of the Desk Research initiative, Plant-A meticulously conducts an extensive analysis to identify and document more than 10 different Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Plant-A also partners with a 3rd party data provider, Aniline, to use their 120+ KPI database for 70,000+ companies. KPIs include Leadership, Integrity, Compensation, Work life balance, and many more.

Every company ranked on these lists is screened for unfair workplace practices, legal disputes and reputational issues using Critical Mention’s media monitoring platform Onclusive. Every mention is then carefully analysed and companies involved in critical issues are excluded from the rankings.

The final data validation process is a collaborative effort involving Plant-A research and Newsweek editorial teams to meticulously review all outcomes for plausibility.
