America’s Greatest Midsize Workplaces for Women 2026 Methodology Overview
America’s Greatest Midsize Workplaces for Women 2026 recognizes the top midsized employers in the United States based on their performance across key metrics relevant for women. The study is focused on companies with an estimated 500 to 1,000 employees, combining a data analysis of thousands of midsize companies with rigorous desk research to evaluate their commitment to female employee satisfaction Plant-A Insights partnered with Aniline, a leading HR analytics company, to leverage a massive database of over 37 million data points and over 2.6 million online employee reviews. This analysis covered more than 4,700 midsize companies with verified U.S. operations. To ensure relevance, categorical importance weights were derived from the America’s Greatest Workplaces 2026 study, prioritizing drivers of workplace happiness such as “Culture & Belonging” and “Work-Life Balance”.
An in-depth desk research phase validated U.S. operations and collected specific metrics relevant to women in the workforce. This included an examination of published ESG and EEO-1 reports, the share of women in key management and leadership roles, such as CEO or CTO, and the presence of a female founder. The Critical Mention media monitoring platform from Onclusive was used to screen employers for involvement in unfair workplace practices or harassment allegations between February 1, 2024, and February 1, 2026. A comprehensive review identified significant legal disputes and labor violations, and any midsize company implicated in such activities was excluded from the ranking. Newsweek and Plant-A Insights conducted multiple validation steps to ensure the accuracy of these exclusions.
A proprietary scoring model calculated a final score for each employer by harmonizing 37 scoring elements under seven weighted categories. The 500 highest-scoring companies have been recognized by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights as America’s Greatest Midsize Workplaces for Women 2026.
The exclusion of a company from this ranking is not a reflection of its quality and is not disputed.
